Etymology

Conflation of Proto-Slavic *sъlnьcevъ and *sъlnьčěvъ (the later in view of the dialectal form слънча́в (slǎnčáv)). Equivalent to слъ́нце (slǎ́nce, sun) + -ев (-ev). Cognate with Macedonian сончев (sončev).
