From Proto-Turkic *oyna-. Equivalent to оюн (oyun, “game”) + -а- (-a-, denominal verb suffix). Cognate with Khakas ойнирға (oynirğa), Yakut оонньуур (oonnyuur), Southern Altai ойноор (oynoor), Kazakh ойнау (oinau) / ويناۋ, Turkish oynamak, etc.
