Background

The NPET K10V3 is a wired gaming keyboard released in January of 2016. Made by the Chinese variety tech company NPET, the keyboard is designed to be a low budget entry level gaming keyboard. According to the manufacturer the K10V3 has no recalls or known failure modes.

The K10V3 is the newer model of the K10V2 keyboard. With only one major modification being the addition of multicolor RGB lights, instead of the solid color red light included with the K10V2. The differences between the K10V1 and K10V3 however are much more apparent as the K10V1 is a basic office keyboard which only comes in black with no RGB lights included. With an LED backlight, 10 zones of RGB and 12 media keys that can control background tracks without switching out of the game, the K10V3 is a go to choice for many. It has a "mechanical-feeling" and operates on a membrane system instead of a mechanical switch system. Two folding stands allow for slight customization of keyboard angle.

The NPET K10V3 tends to range in price from 20 to 30 dollars, making it a more of a budget friendly purchase, which reflects in reviews from buyers. However, the downside of the price is cheaper components. Previous buyers complain of keys being unresponsive or sticking. Other issues people identified were the RGB lighting not working or not changing colors. Due to it being a membrane keyboard, it has different positives and negatives compared to a true mechanical keyboard. Membrane keyboards tend to be lighter, quieter, and significantly cheaper as stated above. However they only last a few years and are difficult to repair. Mechanical keyboards on the other hand offer large customization, a more durable design, and a better feeling. But also are heavier, more expensive, and very loud.
