xoşu gəlmək
Azerbaijani
Etymology
Likely a calque of Persian خوش آمدن. In both languages, the construction is an impersonal one, where the liked object is in the ablative (in Persian expressed by the preposition از (“from”)), whereas the subject of liking is the possessor of خوش/xoş as expressed by a possessive suffix inflected for person and number and (in Azerbaijani) an optional free possessive pronoun. The formal predicate is the verb 'to come'.
