Etymology
Possibly an expressive creation from early Romanian based on an onomatopoeic root tumb-, imitating the sound of a fall or abrupt jump (compare French tomber, Catalan and Portuguese tombar, Spanish tumbar, etc.), or alternatively from Greek τούμπα (toúmpa). Also found in Aromanian tumbã.
