Etymology

Named after a mill Tumbokvarn (Old Swedish Tumboqwern), a contraction meaning "Tumba's mill," from the obsolete farm Tuna + kvarn (mill). The former could be related to the Scandinavian name Tonna, a pet form of Old Norse Þórný, from the root of Þórr (Thor) + nýr (new).
