From Proto-Albanian *trūtja, from Proto-Indo-European *trewH-, *truH-. Cognate to Ancient Greek τρύω (trúō, “to wear out, to exhaust”), Lithuanian trūniú, trūněti (“to rot,to go faul”).[1]
