From Proto-West Germanic *þiudisk, from Proto-Germanic *þiudiskaz. Equivalent to thiod + -isk.
Usage notes
Attested in a gloss (in Straßburger altsächsischen Glossen): Germania is glossed as thiudisca liudi[1] (also mentioned as thiudisca liuti (“German-speaking people”)).[2]
