teglia
Italian
Etymology
Ultimately from Latin tēgula. The normal result, tegghia (found in the old Florentine dialect) from the Vulgar Latin *tegla, was probably modified later in a process of hypercorrection.[1] Doublet of tegola (“roof tile”).
