tabel
See also: Tabel
Dutch
Etymology
From German Tabelle, from Latin tabella, diminutive of tabula (“tablet, board, plank, chart”). Originally the older tafel (which derives ultimately from the same Latin source and thus is its doublet) was used alongside tabel with the same meaning, still seen in the use of tafel to mean a multiplication table. Over time, it was differentiated from it.
