From Proto-Balto-Slavic *smákras, from Proto-Indo-European *smóḱros, thematicized from an original neuter noun *smóḱwr̥, as continued by Hittite 𒍝𒈠𒀭𒆳 (za-ma-an-kur /tsmá(n)gur/).[1]
