Etymology 1
Either from Proto-Germanic *sarkiz (“shirt, armour, hauberk”), via Gothic or from Proto-Slavic *sorka (“shirt”). Schuhard and Meyer claim a borrowing from either Latin serica or Latin sarica[1]
