pečiarka
Slovak
Etymology
Inherited from Proto-Slavic *pečarka (“agaric, mushroom consumed roasted or dried (West Slavic dialectal form)”), from Proto-Slavic *pečara + -ka (“diminutive suffix”), which is a phonetic variant of Proto-Slavic *pečěra, being a verbal derivative of *pek- (“to bake, to roast”) + *-ěra. The motivation is the typical form of preparation as food.[1][2] Compare cognates formed by synonymic suffixes, e.g. Russian печери́ца (pečeríca) and Serbo-Croatian pèčūrka, from Proto-Slavic *pečura.
