Norwegian Nynorsk

Etymology

From Old Norse hlǫðu, oblique singular of hlaða f. Partly a doublet of lade m.

Noun

løe f (definite singular løa, indefinite plural løer, definite plural løene)

  1. (agriculture) a barn
    Synonym: låve

Usage notes

  • While "barn" is usually the most apt translation, a løe is seldom used for the keeping of animals. In such cases, fjøs, would usually be a better translation.
