From Paisaci Prakrit [Term?] (compare Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀕𑀚𑁆𑀛 (gajjha)), from Sanskrit गार्ह्य (gārhya, “domestic”), from गृह (gṛha, “house”). Cognate with Romani gaʒo, Jerusalem Domari kadža, Aleppo Domari kaǧǧã (“man”).
