Etymology
A later borrowing from a South Slavic language, compare Serbo-Croatian kòsa (“scythe”) and Bulgarian коса (kosa, “scythe”). Ultimately derived from Proto-Slavic *kosa (“scythe”). Non-Slavic cognates include Greek κόσα (kósa), Romanian coasă, and Hungarian kasza.[1][2][3]
