kefeleg

Breton

Etymology

From Middle Breton queffelec, from Proto-Brythonic *kėfɨlọg, perhaps derived from *kėfɨl (horse) (whence Breton kefil) owing to the similarity between the bird's call and the snort of a horse. Cognate with Cornish kevelek and Welsh cyffylog.
