Etymology

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish قاینامق, from Proto-Turkic *kạyïn- (to boil (intr.)).[1] Compare Old Turkic [script needed] (kaña-), [script needed] (kayın-, to boil; (for metals) to melt),[2] Kazakh қайнау (qainau), Uzbek qaynamoq, Azerbaijani qaynamaq (to boil).
