integrare

See also: integraré

Italian

Etymology

Borrowed from Latin integrāre.

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): /in.teˈɡra.re/
  • Rhymes: -are
  • Hyphenation: in‧te‧grà‧re

Verb

integràre (first-person singular present ìntegro[1], first-person singular past historic integrài, past participle integràto, auxiliary avére) (transitive)

  1. to supplement, to complement
  2. to integrate
    Synonym: inserire
  3. (mathematics) to integrate
  4. (technical) to automate (industrial production)

Usage notes

  • Treccani and Hoepli mark io intègro as a less common variant pronunciation to io ìntegro. Hoepli also includes io intégro as an additional variant. The traditional-minded Dizionario di Ortografia e Pronuncia notes both variant pronunciations as "rare today". The modern-minded Canepari (Dizionario di Pronuncia Italiana) lists both variant pronunciations and marks them as less-preferred and aulica (archaic or literary).
