i lönndom
Swedish
Etymology
From Old Swedish i løndom, cf. Danish i løndom. Originally a dative plural form of lønd (“secret”) (cf. lagom and stundom), from Old Norse leynd (“secret”). Ultimately from the same root as ljuga (“to lie”). The pronunciation has undergone analogy with words ending in -dom (“-dom”), changing the pitch accent from accent 1 to accent 2, and the vowel of the final syllable from /ɔ/ to /ʊ/. See also lönn-.
