Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *gal-ānja, cognate to Old High German quellan (“to well up, pour out, stream from”) and Sanskrit गलति (gálati, “to drip, to drop, to ooze”). Ultimately from Latin jānua (“door, entrance”).[1]
