From Ottoman Turkish طوغان (doğan),[1] from Proto-Turkic *togan (“falcon”). Cognate with (Can we verify(+) this sense?) Pecheneg towan, Old Turkic 𐱃𐰆𐰍𐰣 (toɣan), etc.
