Etymology
Either from;
- A part of a series of loan words from unattested ancient Greek dialects labeled as Macedonian because it was akin to the native idiom of the Greek-speaking population in the Argead Kingdom.[1] borrowed as Ancient Macedonian *mīrýkhā[2]
- Proto-Albanian *brukā. Compare Proto-Slavic *bьrkь (“twig, stalk, sharp end”).[3]
- Alternatively from Ancient Greek μυρίκη (muríkē).[4]
- According to Orel, from Doric Greek βρυκὰ (brukà)[5]
