Usage notes
As in the Netherlands, berita negara is used for official announcements other than law. Law announcements is published in lembaran negara, which is derived from Dutch staatsblad. In the Japanese occupation, the official publication was called berita pemerintah, which was derived from Japanese 官報 (kanpō, “official government gazette”).
The synonym is warta kerajaan in Standard Malay (Brunei and Malaysia).
