From Ottoman Turkish آصلمق (aṣılmaḳ, to be hung, to be suspended, to hang, to cling),[1] from Ottoman Turkish آصمق (aṣmaḳ, to hang up, to suspend), from Proto-Turkic *as- (to hang),[2][3] morphologically as- + -ıl- + -mak.
