Venedik
Turkish
Etymology
From Ottoman Turkish وندیك (Venedik), from Venetian venedego (“Venetian”) and Byzantine Greek Βενετικός (Benetikós, “Venetian”), variant of Ancient Greek Ἐνετικός (Enetikós) under influence from Latin veneticus, from Ἐνετοί (Enetoí, “Eneti; Veneti; Venetian”) + -ικός (-ikós, “ic: forming adjectives”). Compare the similar development of German Venedig, Swedish Venedig, etc. from veneticus.
