Proto-Slavic
Etymology
Uncertain. Perhaps from *čelo (“forehead”) + *usta (“mouth”),[1][2][3] however the palatalization of the l is unexpected,[4] and Boryś, Sławski, and Bańkowski all point to a Pre-Slavic root.[3][5][6]
