Proto-Malayo-Polynesian
Alternative forms
- *əsuŋ, *li(ŋ)suŋ, *ləsuŋ
Etymology
From Proto-Austronesian *Nusuŋ. It is assumed that PAn *Nusuŋ underwent an irregular change to PMP *lusuŋ, since all known Malayo-Polynesian reflexes point to an initial lateral.
