Proto-Kartvelian

Reconstruction

Uncertain. Supposedly from *za- (year, season) + *max- (new, fresh). Attested only in Svan, however a Mingrelian cognate is possibly found through internal reconstruction where ზო (zo)Proto-Kartvelian *za- is regular.
