Etymology

From Proto-Indo-European *bʰh₂-n-yé-ti, from *bʰeh₂- (shine) (compare Greek φαίνομαι (faínomai, to seem, appear)),[1] Sanskrit भाति (bhāti, to shine), Old Irish bán (white).[2]
