Kuchengabel

German

Etymology

Kuchen (cake) + Gabel (fork)

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): /ˈkuːxənˌɡaːbəl/
  • (file)

Noun

Kuchengabel f (genitive Kuchengabel, plural Kuchengabeln)

  1. small fork; pastry fork
Antonym: (may also be a hypernym) Essgabel

Usage notes

  • Wikipedia defines the pastry fork as having a larger, bevelled tine on the side. While this design is common, the German word is in no way restricted to such a fork. A Kuchengabel is simply a fairly small and short fork, usually with three tines.
