-DÁÁZ
Navajo
Etymology
From Proto-Athabaskan *da̓z ~ *das (“to be heavy”). Compare Chipewyan yekʼéghíłdath (“it is coming down heavy on him”) and Navajo das (“weight”).
In active intransitive bases this root describes the movement of a mass of plural objects. In neuter adjectival and comparative bases it retains the original meaning “to be heavy”.
