From Maharastri Prakrit 𑀫𑀡𑀼𑀲𑁆𑀲 (maṇussa) (compare 𑀫𑀸𑀡𑀼𑀲 (māṇusa), from Sanskrit मनुष्य (manuṣyá) (compare मानुष (mā́nuṣa)), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *manuṣyás, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *manušyás, from Proto-Indo-European *mon- (“man”). Doublet of 𑘦𑘡𑘳𑘏𑘿𑘧 (manukhya).
