ππ°πΎπ°
Aghwan
Etymology
Uncertain. Akin to the synonymous Rutul ΠΊΣΠ°Π»Π°, ΠΊΣΠ°Π»Π°Ρ, ΠΊΣΠ°Π», Tsakhur ΠΊΣΠ°Π°-Π½Π°, ΠΊΣΠ°Π²Π°-Π½Π° (wherein Π² developed from earlier *l), as well as to Old Armenian Υ―Υ‘Υ² (kaΕ).
If the Lezghian terms have a native Northeast Caucasian origin, as has been suggested, then the Armenian is borrowed from them.[1][2][3] Alternatively, they may have been borrowed from Armenian.[4][5][6][7] Finally, all the terms mentioned here may be borrowed from a third source, perhaps Kartvelian. See Υ―Υ‘Υ² (kaΕ) for more.
