이루다

Korean

Etymology

Inherited from Middle Korean 일우〮다〮 (ìlwútá), 일오〮다 (ìlwótà, to create, accomplish, fulfill) first attested in the Yongbieocheon'ga (龍飛御天歌 / 용비어천가) canto 12, 1447.

The verb was a causative form of now-obsolete Middle Korean 일〯다〮 (ǐltá, to happen), from Old Korean 成留 (*Il).
