Etymology

First attested in the Bullyu dugongbu si eonhae (分類杜工部詩諺解 / 분류두공부시언해), 1481, as Middle Korean  (Yale: mìs). From Middle Korean 밋다〮 (Yale: mìstá, “to reach”) as a calque of (“to reach, and”).[1] Compare Japanese 及び (oyobi). From Old Korean 及叱 (*MIch).
