Usage notes

Note that in casual conversation Chinese speakers do not usually distinguish between taking a shower and taking a bath as is customary in English; 洗澡 (xǐzǎo) could refer to either. To refer specifically to taking a shower, consider 沖澡冲澡 (chōngzǎo) or 淋浴 (línyù); to refer specifically to taking a bath consider 泡澡 (pàozǎo) or 浸浴 (jìnyù).
