Etymology

Unclear. Pulleyblank (1962) connects this to Tocharian A kāṅka (stone (possibly)) while Ünal (2022) reconstructs underlying form *kaŋk-, an Iranian word meaning "stone" and comparable to Pashto [script needed] (kā́ṇay, stone).[1]
