Etymology
Unclear. Pulleyblank (1962) connects this to Tocharian A kāṅka (“stone (possibly)”) while Ünal (2022) reconstructs underlying form *kaŋk-, an Iranian word meaning "stone" and comparable to Pashto [script needed] (kā́ṇay, “stone”).[1]
