ἄτοπος

Ancient Greek

Etymology

From ἀ- (a-) + τόπος (tópos, place).

Pronunciation

Adjective

ἄτοπος • (átopos) m or f (neuter ἄτοπον); second declension

  1. unusual, out of place
    • καὶ λοιπὴν τὴν ΔΖ μονάδα μετρήσει ὁ Η ἀριθμὸς ὤν ὄπερ ἄτοπον.
So H will also measure the remainder, unit ΔΖ, despite being a number. This very thing is absurd.
