Etymology
From Proto-Mon-Khmer *knpur (“lime”), of Austronesian origin. Cognate with Vietnamese vôi (“lime”) and Mon ဂပဵု (həpɒ, “lime; stalked lime”). Compare Proto-Austronesian *qapuʀ, whence also Malay kapur.
