From Pali devarūpa, from deva (divine) + rūpa (form; figure), or from Sanskrit देवरूपा (devarūpā), from देव (deva, divine) + रूप (rūpa, form; figure), equivalent to Thai เทว (teeo) + รูป (rûup). Cognate with Modern Khmer ទេវរូប (teiwruup).
