Etymology

From Sanskrit अभिधर्म (abhidharma, literally higher dharma), from अभि (abhi, higher; over; above) + धर्म (dharma, dharma); equivalent to Thai อภิ (à-pí) + ธรรม (tam). Compare Pali abhidhamma, from which Modern Khmer អភិធម្ម (ʼaʼphithŏəm) was derived.
