Etymology
A metathesized inheritance from Magadhi Prakrit *𑀧𑀸𑀭𑀸𑀬 (*pārāya), from Sanskrit पारावत (pārāvata, “remote, distant”), a compound of परा (parā, “distant”) + -वत् (-vat).[1] Cognate with Kamta পাৰো (parü), Sylheti ꠙꠣꠞꠧ (faro), Assamese পাৰোৱা (parüa), Odia ପାରା (para), Nepali परेवा (parewā).
