Etymology
Learned borrowing from Sanskrit देह (deha), Proto-Indo-Aryan *dáyźʰas, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *dʰáyȷ́ʰas (“form, shape, mold, wall”), from Proto-Indo-European *dʰéyǵʰ-o-s, from *dʰeyǵʰ- (“to mold, form”). Cognate with Proto-Iranian *paridayjah, whence also English paradise and ফেরদৌস (pherdous).
