Etymology
From the root सिच् (sic), from Proto-Indo-European *seykʷ- (“to spill, pour; moisten, filter”). Cognate with Ancient Greek ἰκμᾰ́ς (ikmás, “moisture, wetness”), Proto-Slavic *sьcati (“to piss”); Proto-Germanic *saiwiz whence English sea.
