Etymology
Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘦𑘐 (maga), from the adverbial usage of Maharastri Prakrit 𑀫𑀕𑁆𑀕 (magga, “road, path”)[1] without compensatory lengthening, from Sanskrit मार्ग (mārga). Related to माग (māg) with compensatory lengthening. Doublet of मार्ग (mārga).
