Borrowed from Sanskrit जम्बु (jambu) or Malay jambu. Doublet of inherited ދަނބު (daᵐbu, jambul); compare the development of ދަނބިދޫ (daᵐbidū, Dhanbidhoo) from Sanskrit जम्बुद्वीप (jambudvīpa).
