From Aramaic ܩܲܡܝܼܨܬܵܐ (qamīṣtā), from Byzantine Greek καμίσιον (kamísion),[1] from Latin camisia, from Proto-Germanic *hamiþiją (“clothes, shirt, skirt”). Compare Turoyo ܩܡܶܣܬܐ (qmesto) and Arabic قَمِيص (qamīṣ).
