From Aramaic ⁧ܩܲܡܝܼܨܬܵܐ⁩ (qamīṣtā), from Byzantine Greek καμίσιον (kamísion),[1] from Latin camisia, from Proto-Germanic *hamiþiją (“clothes, shirt, skirt”). Compare Turoyo ⁧ܩܡܶܣܬܐ⁩ (qmesto) and Arabic ⁧قَمِيص⁩ (qamīṣ).
