جلوه
Ottoman Turkish
Etymology
This may be a merger of Arabic جَلْوَة (jalwa, “formal unveiling of a new bride”) and جِلْوَة (jilwa, “a gift given to the unveiled bride”), or dictionaries may have failed to preserve the pronunciation difference. The bride-related senses were long obsolete by the 19th century.
