تفاح
Arabic
Etymology
According to Fraenkel, a borrowing from Aramaic, but the putative etymon is not unambiguously attested in Aramaic. More prominent in Hebrew תַּפּוּחַ (tappū́aḥ), Ugaritic 𐎚𐎔𐎈 (tpḥ), Punic *𐤕𐤐𐤇 (*tpḥ /tappūḥ/) and Semitic-borrowed Late Egyptian ḏpḥ up to Coptic ϫⲙⲡⲉϩ (čmpeh) etc.
